Scam Alert: Poetry.com, International Library of Poetry, Noble House and Others

Be aware that these organizations are essentially fraudulent in that publication by them is not based on poetic merit and counts for nothing in the poetry world. It is just a way of separating the unwary from their cash in return for meaningless awards and publications.

These organizations publish EVERYTHING submitted to them, including in the past instructions from soup can labels, pages from telephone directories etc.

EVERYONE who submits receives letters informing them that their work has been especially chosen from thousands of submissions to receive a series of special honors and awards which the writer will receive upon payment of a fee.

NO legitimate competition or publisher ever requires payment from a writer to receive an award. (Reading fees may be required for competition entry).
