Poetry Technique and
Forms Resources
Rachel's Picks: Just a few of my favorite
places to find help and tips on poetry:
The Poetry Free-For-All Blurbs of
Wisdom An excellent resource
for all things poetic – there are great threads here on everything you
could want to know, covering critique, technique, meter, forms, and how to
appropriately handle negative criticism (this last one applies mainly to
participating in the workshop at PFFA, but it’s good knowledge for anyone
who ever goes to any poetry workshop). Many of the contributors at
PFFA are accomplished writers and well-educated
researchers.
Al Filreis’ Site at UPenn A really incredible resource for help on
technique, forms, subjects for poetry, etc. He’s also the Faculty
Director for the Writer’s House, which you can find on this site.
This site is HUGE – you could spend ages here. In particular, this
page is useful: Rhythm and meter in English poetry
Interlocking Poetry Forms Very nice site, well designed and easy to
follow.
Poetry at Ariadne’s Web A site created and run by Ariadne Unst, which
I’ve found to be helpful on many occasions. Clear, informal
explanation of forms with accessible examples.
And for everything
else,
Google
it. You can get anything there.
